Southern Bridal Show and Expo… May 3, 2009

All I can say is WOW!  We had so much FUN at the Southern Bridal Show and Expo on April 19th.

We have finally enough time to post some pictures for you to see our booth.   The show had over 500 registered brides, not counting all of the groom’s and guests they brought with them.

We served over 800 samples and we RAN OUT an hour before the show was over.   We offered dark chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling and a butter cake with fresh strawberry filling.

The most popular cakes we had on display were the 2003_02170003

Sushi Cake (entirely edible) and the Blue and Brown cake.   The Sushi cake is a great example of how fun a Groom’s cake can be at your wedding.  The groom’s cake is typically something the groom really loves; golf, football teams, and cars are very popular.

My sister and husband came to the show to help talk to brides and boy am I so GLAD they did!

I am sure I was not able to talk to everyone so I am thankful that they were there to speak to the others.  We were all so exhausted at the end of the day that we were all in bed by 9pm (after having fallen asleep on the couch ;)!

If you were at the show and were not able to sign up for a tasting at that time, please contact us and we will gladly schedule your tasting.  Tastings and consultations are free to those requiring a cake to serve 50 or more guests.  Consultations (with no tasting) are always free.  Please note that it is generally a good idea to book your cake 6-8 months in advance as the number of weddings we book each weekend are limited.

Keep an eye out for our next blog..we went on a photogrpahy safari with our wedding show cakes with professional photographer Sandra Gall owner of The Gallery.  I never knew photography could be so much fun!  Sandra said it was nice that the cakes always smiled when she wanted them to and never wiggled!

Bridal Show…… March 9, 2009

We recently participated our first show in Raleigh.  The Embassy Suites-Crabtree hosted a lovely show on a chilly Sunday afternoon.  We were happy to escape to the tropical theme of the show.  A lucky couple won a trip to a fabulous beach somewhere!

Here is a picture of our booth.  We offered three different cake styles along with matching favors.

We were offering 2 samples that day; Butter cake with chocolate mousse and Butter cake with a yummy lemon curd.  A lot of people shied away from the lemon curd…I guess it sounds a bit strange.  But I have to tell you…a freshly made curd (lemon, lime, passion fruit) is absolutely to DIE for!!  Tangy and sweet and oh so creamy!

We also met some more of Raleigh’s fabulous wedding classy-jeweled-cake-flowers-english-gardenvendors! Diamond Entertainment will get you and your loved ones to your wedding and reception in style!  Vivienne Carosso has excellent jewelry from Cookie Lee that would be perfect as bridesmaid gifts or your wedding day ensemble.  We are excited to visit Cute Buttons in Cary for adorable paper products and invitations.  And we were fortunate to meet the owners of The English Garden florist.  They were kind enough to allow us to take this photo of our cake next to their Stunning floral display.

You can catch us at our next bridal show on April 19th and the Southern Bridal Show & Expo at the NC Fairgrounds.  This show is hosted by Forever Bridal and I have heard that they host wonderful shows.  We will have more samples and new cakes for you to see.

If you can’t wait until April to meet us, remember we offer free tasting and consultations Tuesday-Thursday at from 10-2 and at 7pm.  Please remember that our tastings are by appointment only.

Wow!  What a banner first week we had!  We want to send a shout out to our very first Raleigh customer Cathleen over at Coyote Logistics!  We are glad you all enjoyed your cupcakes last week (and the ones from this week, must have been good!).

We have also scheduled a bunch of free tastings and consultations for weddings this year.  Remember, 3-6 months out is the perfect time to book your wedding cake.  The honor of our first Raleigh bride and groom goes to Kristen and Chris who will be getting married in July 2009.

We are also proud to be a sponsor for the Wakefield High School’s Spring Talent show to be held Saturday February 14th, 2009 from 1-4pm.

We are donating lots of yummy treats for the intermission snacks (cupcakes, cookies, chocolate covered treats, mmmm!). This Talent show will benefit the Stop Hunger Now Organization, so be sure to support your local students as they do their part to Stop Hunger Now.

I also attended a wedding professional’s luncheon hosted by Perfect Wedding Guide.  We enjoyed a wonderful salad and bread pudding from the Embassy Suites Cafe and discussed how to make ourselves more approachable in new situations.  I also met a bunch a fantastic wedding vendors.  I met the lovely Sandra Gall  of  The Gallery  check out her Soul Searching gallery…it is stunning.  I also spoke with wedding planner Makia Walls who will help you with all those details you never knew existed at Simply Elegant Events.  And if you are looking for personalized invitations, look no further than Galanova.  These are just a few of the professionals we met at the luncheon, please ask for referrals if you need them.

We would like to extend a great big cyber Thank You to Raleigh for the warm welcome!  We are excited to be here and hope to hear from you soon.
